Everyone’s favourite commuter paper, Metro ran a competition recently to send in designs for a new masthead. I only actually noticed it two days before the deadline was due and I couldn’t quite work out if it was a serious request or one of those 2012-esque ‘send us in your design ideas for light-hearted spread fodder’ things, but it sounded like a bit of fun so I thought I’d have a go at it. As those who know me will attest, I do have an unhealthy interest in the seat patterns you find on modes of public transport so I used those as inspiration…

There are a selection of example logos on the Metro website currently, but the actual winner is due to be published in Metro newspaper on Mon 28th Jan. I guess the Metro website will be properly updated afterwards.

I think this is the best logo for metro. it looks modern, it stands out and it makes sense. not like the other logos they had up, i was getting bored of looking at them. Makes me think what were they actually looking at? they probably skimmed through a few entries and picked out a few without looking.
