Microsoft Mito

forzamito1

Forza Motorsport 3 for the Xbox 360 boasts the Alfa Romeo Mito in the car line-up, which means as a graphic designing gamer I’ve got my first logo in a videogame!

Although would it have killed them to put the logo on the car selection screen instead of the default Franklin Gothic? It’s not even been kerned, just LOOK at that letter ‘o’

I’m afraid it’s still not enough to make me buy an Xbox (shudder) I’ll stick with my PS3 thanks. Maybe Gran Turismo 5 will feature the Mito to go head to head with the DeLorean…

Beatles For Sale

I’ve been eagerly anticipating the release of Beatles Rock Band for some time now, valiantly ignoring all other rhythm action games and going to the rare trouble to preorder it so I got it on release day 09.09.09. I went the whole hog and got the full band edition just to show I mean business. Hopefully it will be waiting for me when I get home (postal strike permitting), the neighbours aren’t going to get much sleep tonight…

The game looks beautiful, just take a look at the opening sequence…

The animation is by Passion Pictures and MK12. Passion Pictures in particular are well known for their work on Gorillaz, as well as ads for Sony Bravia and the Audi Unboxed ad I posted a while ago. MK12 have done some great movie title sequences such as Quantum of Solace.

There’s a lot of Beatles stuff around, the hype machine is in full swing as all of the original albums are also being released for the first time remastered in stereo on the same day. The box set will set you back a cool £170 though… Apple may finally even be releasing them on iTunes too which has been long rumoured.

Oh, and here’s the trailer for Guitar Hero’s response to the whole thing, launching on 10.10.10…

The Unfinished Swan

This is lovely, a quirky game concept being developed by Ian Dallas which sets you the task of finding your way around in a completely white environment. Don’t worry though, you have some black ink at your disposal to pick out doors and objects. Could be loads of fun or completely baffling, one or the other. Whichever though, it gives rise to something very graphically distinct. Graham Linehan thinks it’s the next Portal…

Looks wonderful, it’s being coded in XNA though, so I’m unlikely to ever actually play it. Shame, could have been great as a PlayStation download, an iPhone app or even for the Pandora…

Retro gaming breaks out

I thought these were great, but then again I love stuff like this. Fantastic attention to detail…

Pixels break free

Atari Golf

I came across this ad campaign for Atari on Ffffound! – liked it and investigated a little further. It looks like work from UK agency The Republik and references Atari’s sporting past. If anyone knows more about this then I’d love to hear about it.

Atari Tennis and Football

You’ve got to love some nice pixels. This isn’t exactly a new idea, but the execution of this is really lovely…

Spore & Monkey Ball on iPhone

Spore on iPhone

Today was the day that iPhone enthusiasts and would-be developers were waiting for as Apple unveiled the long-awaited Software Development Kit and outlined its plans for 3rd party software on the device.

Most notably for me were the demos of Will Wright’s eagerly anticipated Spore, and Sega’s Super Monkey Ball.

I’m going to find it REALLY hard to hold out for the iPhone v2 now…
