I’m currently finishing an identity for a law firm, so this website struck a chord.

Typography for Lawyers is a 13 primer by Matthew Butterick, a frustrated lawyer with a design background, in an attempt to show his colleagues the true typographic path. During my current project, I have indeed learned that typography is particularly important for lawyers, and also particularly hard to get right across a large business. Lawyers and designers are kind of the opposite sorts of people.

I found this via The Disciples of Design who reckon it might even be a good student resource…

An interesting site and the collection is growing. Remember, you spell stationery with an e when you mean envelopes.

Now this is nice. Film The Blanks posts abstractions of movie posters, some obvious, some less so, and invites visitors to guess the title.

The graphics are lovely and the game is a nice idea. I can’t help posting some of my favourites here, but there are loads more on the site and in the Flickr set.

You can also buy the blanks, there are posters and T-shirts. Couldn’t find out who was behind it, they prefer to remain blank…

Finally, there is now a half decent chance of being able to find something again that you added on Ffffound in the past. I was only wondering the other week if there was any way to actually get at your Ffffound collection, well now you can.

For years I kept a ‘nice things’ folder on my machine, where I put anything cool I came across online. Since I started using Ffffound though, the nice things folder has become a little neglected and as soon as something is ffffound, it is almost as quickly llllost.

Check out Ddddownload, you can download your Ffffound collection (or anyone else’s for that matter). Just type the username in and give your email address and a ZIP file is emailed to you. It takes a while if you have a lot of stuff (mine took 20 minutes and weighed in at 145Mb for 1500 items) but after it arrives it unzips everything intact.

Nice, now can someone email me a link to where all my odd socks have gone?
